[ RUN, DON'T WALK! ]
ANYONE LOOKING FOR A GOOD DIGITAL SLR at an affordable price should get down to the nearest Big W to snap up this PENTAX offer. We reckoned it was a terrific buy at $999 — at $688 with the decent Sigma lens it is real value for money.

Terry, me again. The lens that came with the camera is 18-50mm and not the lens you had when you reviewed the camera. It's my first dslr so I have lots to learn, but so far so good. The software that came with the camera recognizes the RAW files but my Photoshop CS2 doesn't. Do you know if I can alter that? I can't seem to find the settings.
Thanks from Danielle.

Danielle:
The lens that came with the camera -- I assume it is a Sigma -- is a good kit lens. It doesn't try to do too much and end up as a compromise between quality and price. It is a cheap lens, but not a bad one.
The camera/lens deal is such a bargain that as you become familiar with the camera and more ambitious you will be able to look around for other lenses. In the meantime you won't be let down by this one.
To open the Pentax RAW files in PS CS2 you need to download the Adobe Camera Raw plug-in. [ http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop/cameraraw.html ] It is free. You need to read the installation instructions on the Adobe site.
Incidentally, may I suggest that you invest in a set of Eneloop AA batteries and a charger? That is what I used for testing the K100D and it seemed to me, after 600+ shots, that they were never going to run flat.
